Shannon\u2019s opeds and essays have appeared in numerous publications, including the\u00a0International Herald Tribune, The Guardian Online,<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0The New York Times Online.<\/i>\u00a0In July 2011, Shannon cofounded Sister Somalia, the first sexual violence crisis center in Mogadishu. She has spearheaded multiple successful media campaigns related to Congo, Somalia and conflict minerals legislation. Shannon is a fellow with the Harvard Kennedy School\u2019s Carr Center for Human Rights and a former fellow with the Center for Public Leadership. She holds a Masters in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School and an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Georgetown University.
